Tortoise General Store sits at 12701 Venice Boulevard in Mar Vista, the furthest west of the shops here and the only one that pulls a Los Angeles day out toward the ocean.
It keeps afternoon hours: Tuesday through Saturday one to six, Sunday noon to five, closed Monday. Don’t arrive in the morning — nothing opens until one.
