Three shops on Commercial Street, two more up Exchange, salvage on Preble, clay on Washington Avenue, and the market in Deering Oaks twice a week.
A walking city with a short list. Park once, start at the water, and work up the hill.
Most of this list is walkable. Commercial Street, along the harbour, holds three of them — Blanche + Mimi at 195, LeRoux Kitchen at 161, and Chilton's showroom at 100. Turn inland and Exchange Street picks it up: Folly 101 at 101, Lisa-Marie's Made in Maine further down at 35. Preble Street, a little further in, is where the architectural salvage lives, and Washington Avenue, east of the downtown blocks, is where the clay is.
Two of them keep to their own schedule rather than yours. The farmers' market sets up in Deering Oaks on Wednesday and Saturday mornings only, 7 to 1; Folly 101 is open Tuesday through Saturday and shuts at 3. And one entry isn't in Portland at all — Estabrooks is up the coast in Yarmouth, which we've said plainly on its page.
